This logic applies to all monotone transformations for sample data; however, there are certain specialized results for the logarithmic transformation. The Statistical Sleuth (Ramsey and Schafer, 2002) discusses these specialized results in the case of the two-sample t-test (Section 3.5) and simple regression (Section 8.4). Much more care is taken in the discussion of transformations in The Statistical Sleuth than in any other book of which the author is aware.
